Company Profile

F&S Pipework is a mechanical services company that was established in 1989 and services the needs of the building service industry which includes health, education, pharmaceutical, commercial and industrial sectors in which we carry out pipework, plumbing and secondary steelwork installations.

We are based in Luton, Bedfordshire which is of close proximity to junction 11 of the M1 motorway. We are able to service the complete radius of the M25 motorway including central London and north of Luton as far as Nottingham.

We have a large office based pre-fabrication facility at our Luton premises which has been set up for the evermore demanding off-site element of works from within the industry.

F&S Pipework currently carry over 100 directly employed field staff which are made up of pipefitters, plumbers, welders and assistants all of which are CSCS registered.

We carry out various ranges of installation works in all types of systems including mild steel, stainless steel, ductile irons, cast irons, plastics, copper and pressfit type systems.

F&S Pipework like to be considered as an arm of the larger type building and mechanical service companies that we work for. The directors are personally responsible for project management, full liason with our clients on a day to day basis, quality levels and of course health & safety. Generally we do not get involved in any type of design works as our clients usually provide us with working drawings but if required this could be arranged out of house.

Turnover has increased significantly since 2005 when it stood at £5.3 million to its highest level in 2008/09 when it reached over £14 million. The vision of the Board during the present recession is that of consolidation and thereafter to return to a period of sustained growth where we have both the capacity and capability to increase our peak turnover figure.

F&S Pipework achieved ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 certification during January 2007 and followed this in September 2009 with OHSAS 18001. Membership of HVCA and RoSPA was already attained during 2006 along with a prestigious Rospa Gold Health & Safety award.

The growth of F&S Pipework demanded additional support for the activaties in the field,so, during the later part of 2006 a fulltime Health & Safety Manager. Quality Assurance clerk and Document Controller roles were created.

Following a recent assessment F&S Pipework Service has been awarded ISO 9001 certification.
This is a prestigious and sought after award that is increasingly being demanded by customers from their suppliers

Although, introduced many years ago only 5% of British businesses have been successful in gaining this ISO certification.

Achieving this certification is a positive statement to prospective and established customers, about our level of system management and the importance we put on exceeding customer needs.

Following an assessment by an independant body F&S Pipework has been awarded ISO 14001 certification. This Certification has only been achieved by less than 1% of UK businesses and this prestigious award is supported by the Government and recognised world-wide.
ISO 14001 is a Standard for evaluating an organisation’s working practices, procedures and processes that relate to Environmental Management.
Said a delighted Mr Martin Shaw, Managing Director, “We have always been proud of the service we offer our clients and the way that we conduct our business with regard to Environmental matters. Now with the award of ISO 14001 certification, this has been confirmed by outside experts who are used to judging standards on a daily basis in a wide variety of trades and industries”
Mr Greville Payne, who undertook the assessment for QMS Quality Management Systems, paid particular tribute to “the investment in people and training that enables F&S Pipework to provide an efficient and Environmentally friendly service to their customers.
